I’m excited to turn 40. I’m not exactly sure why. Perhaps it is because 4 has always been my favourite number? Or it might be because I see that those who have entered into their 40s before me really do seem to be at peace with themselves on a whole new level.
In preparation, I have been rereading Soulful Simplicity by Courtney Carver and I’m inspired to improve my morning routine. I’m not great at routines that are for my benefit (it may have something to do with being an Obliger, but more on that at another time). She suggests Habit Stacking and provides plans for how to form two and three activity morning routines.
This morning I sat with my hands on my heart for 5 minutes and asked myself what I want as I move into my 40s and why. I followed that by 5 minutes of journaling to capture those thoughts and anything else that came up.
My goal is to post a little something here each day. It might not be mind-blowing or thought-provoking – in fact, it may be quite boring, it also might contain mistakes and I’m putting that out there right now to let go of a little bit of my perfectionism that can hold me back at times.
Now, I’m off to enjoy my birthday! (p.s., I may be 40, but that’s not going to stop me from having a Unicorn themed birthday)
